A fabulous sterling locket from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This gorgeous oval shaped sterling locket is crafted in sterling silver, and features a unique niello checkerboard design on both the front and the back. When opened, the locket features two oval shaped frames, which would be perfect for showcasing a special photograph or memento. The locket secures at the bottom with a small sliding mechanism, and the top of the piece features a complementary bail. The backside of the bail is stamped with a "900" purity mark, a small sunburst within a circle motif, and two small "m" markings. A wonderful and substantial locket, this piece would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, 1 1/2" wide and 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. There is no serious damage to the silver setting. The frames inside of the locket, the complementary bail, and the mechanism which allows the locket to open and close are all in intact and in working order.
