A darling seashell pendant from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted with 14kt yellow gold, this wonderful piece is comprised of rich, deep brown agate which has been meticulously carved and polished into the shape of a realistic seashell. A single old Cushion Mine Cut diamond weighing approximately 0.40ctw, represents aa pearl, resting within a prong setting which is riveted into the concave center of the shell. A 14kt yellow gold backing cradles the back of the shell and the remnants of a pin setting hand-marked with an underlined "16" can be faintly seen. A simple bail rests at the top of the setting, and the shell is ready to be attached to a favorite chain! This pendant would be a perfect addition to any Victorian collection.
Measurements: The seashell pendant hangs a little more than 1 1/8" long, and measures approximately 3/4" wide and 3/8" in depth.
Condition: The pendant remains in overall excellent antique condition. One prong is missing from the diamond setting, but the diamond remains securely set and intact. Besides normal surface wear, there are no other damages to the gold setting and the agate is free of chips and scratches.
