A lovely painted porcelain locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 18k yellow gold, this wonderful piece is comprised of a porcelain plaque held within a bezel setting. The porcelain features a wonderful hand painted scene which depicts two small cherubs amongst the clouds. The small cherubs wear loose drapery, and are depicted carrying blooming bouquets. The color and detail is lovely, and the pastel hues of the porcelain plaque beautifully complement the gold of the locket. The gold frame is topped with a ribbon motif, which features a small, central pearl. The remainder of the border is decorated with three-dimensional foliage and floral motifs. Situated at the bottom of the locket is a dangling prong set pearl, which moves freely. The locket pendant also features a large 18k bail, which is decorated with a dainty, braided motif. On the back of the is a small hinge and glass locket cover, allowing for a small photograph or memento to be stored securely within the piece. A stunning example of hand painted porcelain, this piece would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pin/pendant hangs 2 1/2" long (including the bail), measures 1 3/8" wide, and is approximately 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or painted porcelain plaque. The pearl details, bail, and glass locket cover are all secure and intact.
