A delightful and humorous gold charm/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880s era)! This unusual and collectable piece is crafted in 14k yellow gold and features a small gold box. The exterior of the box is decorated on one side with an etching depicting a house set atop a hill, and the other side reads "Hope Chest", and features a complementary foliage motif. The box also features a delicate etched border. Additionally, the box features a small clasp on the side, which allows the "chest" to open and close. When opened, a small man dressed in a tuxedo and top-hat can be seen. The dapper man's attire is represented by black enameling. The top of the box features a complementary chain, which would allow the piece to easily attach to a favorite chain or charm bracelet. An adorable and unique charm/pendant, this piece would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The charm measures just under 1/2" tall and 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the charm/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or exterior etchings. The clasp, which allows the box to be opened and closed is in working order, and the small three-dimensional "man" inside of the box is intact. The complementary bail is securely attached to the charm/pendant.
