French paste is a vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700s, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

A gorgeous and unique pair of French paste earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 14k gold, each earring features a French paste stone held within a 6-prong setting. The prong settings of the earrings also feature stunning clover motifs, which further add to the overall appeal of the piece. The facets in each stone catch the light beautifully with every turn and closely resemble real diamonds. Atop of the paste stones, another unique clover motif connects to simple earring wires, which allow the earrings to dangle with lovely movement. A beautiful design, these earrings look absolutely gorgeous and could be worn everyday!

Measurement: Each earring hangs 3/4" long (including the wire at the top). The prong-set stones measure approximately 1/4" in diameter and are 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The French paste stones are intact and securely set. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
