A beautiful pair of Maltese cross earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each of these exquisite earrings is crafted in 14k yellow gold and begins with a small, disc-shaped surmount. The center of the disc is decorated with a small, three-dimensional ball, and the border of the disc features Etruscan-style wirework. Hanging from the surmount is a larger disc-shaped link, which features a Maltese cross motif. The cross is centered by a light green square-cut Emerald held within a bezel-setting. Surrounding the cross are four three-dimensional balls, and the disc is also surrounded by an Etruscan-style wirework border. The bottom of the disc features a dainty, smooth curved panel, which is adorned with five small balls as well. The earrings are completed by simple earring wires. Very lightweight and comfortable to wear, these gorgeous earrings are hollow inside and are smooth on the back. A wonderful Victorian piece, they would look lovely worn day or night!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 3/8" long, has a 5/8" diameter, and is a little under 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, Etruscan wirework, or to the emerald stones, both of which are intact. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
