An exquisite and unusual ring from the Georgian (ca1750s) era! Crafted in 14k yellow gold, this ring features a circular centerpiece, which holds a hand-painted portrait. The portrait depicts Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden (aka Louis William), who acted as the ruling Margrave of Baden in Germany, and served as the Commander of the Imperial Army. He was also called Türken Louis for his many victories against the Ottoman Forces. The portrait is protected by a glass frame, and the remainder of the band is smooth and simple. A fascinating ring with a rich history, this piece would make a fantastic addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 5.75 but could be resized if desired. The painted portrait centerpiece has a diameter of 3/4" and a depth of 1/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the portrait. The glass frame is secure and intact.
