A beautiful French double-sided locket from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! Crafted in 18k yellow gold, this circular locket features two beveled glass covers held within a simple gold frame border. The gold frame features a ribbed, textured design, and four, three-dimensional pointed motifs draw the eye towards any object the wearer chooses to store within the locket. The reversible design makes it possible to store two photographs inside. Alternatively, the glass frames also act as windows, allowing a flower or object pressed in between the glass to show through to the surface on both sides. Currently, the locket features a black and white photograph of a dapper young man. The gold screw top can be removed to allow the frame to open, and the piece also includes an 18k bail, which would allow the piece to hang freely on a favorite chain.
Measurements: The piece hangs just under 1 1/2" long, 1" wide, and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold frame or to the glass covers, which are secure and intact. The screw top functions properly and the bail at the top for attaching the piece to a chain is securely attached.
