Legendary jeweler, Alexander Tillander, was born in Finland in June of 1837. At the age of 11, Tillander relocated to St. Petersburg to study as a barber's apprentice. However, Tillander soon transitioned to serving as an apprentice under Fredrik Adolf Holstenius, a Finnish goldsmith. By 1860, Tillander obtained his own workshop, and officially went into business with his son, Alexander, in 1891. Together, the father and son duo grew in popularity, and were often commissioned to create pieces for the Russian royal family. Known for their wonderful craftsmanship and implementation of styles including filigree and enamelwork, "Oy Tillander Ab" is still crafting jewelry today.

A wonderful enamel cuff from the Retro (ca1940s) era! This unique piece from renowned jeweler, Alexander Tillander, is crafted in sterling silver. The entire exterior surface of the bangle is decorated with enameling, which includes cream and deep brown hues. The two colors seem to seep into one another, and slightly resemble cow print. The enameling is nestled between two sterling silver borders. The inside of the cuff is smooth and simple, and is stamped with the Alexander Tillander "AT" signature, a crown motif, a "925" purity mark, a small boat motif, and "X7". A playful and colorful piece, this cuff would be perfect for everyday wear!

Measurements: The inside of the cuff (where a wrist would rest) measure 2 7/8" wide and 2 1/2" tall. The surface of the bracelet is 1" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the cuff is excellent. There is no damage to the sterling silver setting or to the enameling.
