A fabulous gold book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This amazing handmade piece is crafted in rich 15kt yellow gold and comprised of alternating Roman column and heart shaped links which carry around the entire length. The rectangular column links have a striking, intricate design with a scrolled base and capital and cutout sides. Two vertical heart links rest in between each column, adding a romantic quality to the piece. All of the links are smooth on the reverse side and the necklace is very light in weight. At the center of the chain is a large sized spring ring that allows the wearer to attach a complimentary pendant or locket if desired. A gorgeous piece, the book chain looks fabulous worn as a collar necklace and could easily be worn alone or paired with a matching locket or pendant.
Measurements: The book chain measures approximately 17 1/4" long and 7/8" wide. The diameter of the clasped spring ring measures approximately 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there are no significant scratches or dents in the gold links. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
