A magnificent pair of diamond wings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This spectacular piece is crafted in silver-topped 18kt gold and depicts a large pair of outstretched wings. The elegant wings are encrusted with delicate, glinting Rose Cut diamonds in a fine pavé setting weighing approximately 1.80ctw combined. Delicate airline cutouts accentuate the individual shapes of the feathers, forming a fine filigree wirework frame. The back of the piece is set in 18kt gold, where a large curved bar pin is attached, perfect for fastening the wings to a favorite garment. The removable 14kt gold chain has an elegant, ornate pattern and attaches to two hooks at each wing, fastening with an ornate marquis-shaped spring clasp at the back. When worn as a necklace, the winged pendant hangs prominently just below the collarbone making an incredible statement. An outstanding piece from the Victorian era, it would make a very special addition to any antique collection!
Measurements: When worn as a necklace, it measures approximately 19" in total length. The diamond wings measure 3" wide, and 1 1/8" tall.
Condition: The necklace is in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver-topped gold setting. All of the diamonds are intact and securely set. The gold chain hooks securely in place, and the clasp is in good working order. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, which is normal for antique jewelry and adds to its natural beauty.
