A wonderful pair of carved tortoise shell earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Now a banned material, antique tortoise shell jewelry has become very collectible. These striking earrings are hand carved into a three-dimensional urn shape, which dangles freely in between large Grecian-style geometric handles at each side. At the top of each earring is a surmount comprised of a round tortoise shell bead attached to a simple earring wire. The tortoise shell displays a rich, deep brown color with subtle translucence and a lovely matte finish. Very lightweight and comfortable to wear, these Victorian earrings would make a special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2 1/4" long, are 5/8" wide and measure approximately 3/8" at their thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. There is some normal surface wear to the tortoise shell, which is common for a Victorian era piece and not noticeable when worn. The earring wires are intact and in good condition.
