A fabulous pair of carved tortoise shell earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Now a banned material, antique tortoise shell jewelry has become very collectible. These striking earrings are hand carved into an urn shape, with geometric Grecian-style handles at either side. The earrings dangle below a topper comprised of a round tortoise shell bead attached to a 14kt gold earring wire. The tortoise shell has a rich, deep brown color with light amber and caramel hues that are visible along the handles and at the tips of the urns. Very lightweight and comfortable to wear, these fantastic earrings look wonderful in person, and would make a brilliant addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2" long, are 5/8" wide, and slightly more than 1/4" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the carved tortoise shell, and the earring wires are intact and in good condition.
