A stunning and bold medallion pendant necklace from the late Victorian (ca1900s) era! Crafted in both 9k rose gold and sterling silver, this piece features a thick curb link chain necklace. The size of the curb links varies slightly throughout the piece, but all of the links have a smooth and simple surface. The chain secures with a watch swivel clasp and is complemented by a decorative toggle. The watch swivel clasp and toggle both feature a maker's mark which reads: "C.E.C", a small lion-motif, and the letter "b". These hallmarks indicate that the piece is English in origin. The necklace is also accompanied by a medallion pendant. The center of the pendant features a rose gold shield motif, and the border of the medallion features a twisting, cutout-design border. The back of the pendant is marked with a serial number which reads: "E303718", a maker's mark which reads: "W.D.J", an anchor motif, a lion motif, and the letter "C". These hallmarks indicate that the piece was created in Birmingham in the year 1902. A unique piece, this medallion pendant necklace would be perfect for any antique jewelry collector!
Measurements: The chain measures approximately 18 1/2" long. The shield-shape pendant measures 1 1/2" long and has a width of 1 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver or gold details. The chain, shield-pendant, toggle, and watch swivel clasp are all secure and intact.
