Victorian Sterling Clasped Hands Garnet Bracelet with Key
A fabulous and unusual sterling bangle from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This sentimental piece is crafted in sterling silver and adorns a fantastic hand motif accented by vibrant garnets. Found at the front of the bracelet are two clasped hands which have a bold 3-dimensional design. The hands feature realistic details, including defined fingernails, creases at the knuckles, and etched shading to represent shadows. A faceted bezel set garnet is set on the back of the middle finger of one hand, giving the appearance of a ring and ornate ruffled cuffs accented by a trio of garnet stones can be found at each wrist. The "sleeves" adorn a feminine etched floral motif which carries halfway around the bracelet, finishing with a smoothly polished back which tapers slightly. The meaningful design is completed with a small sterling skeleton key charm which hangs from a chain, dangling from the center of the two clasped hands. The bracelet is hinged and opens at a push clasp on the side and found on the back of the hands are two stamped hallmarks. The bracelet has a beautiful and very unique design and the piece would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The bracelet's width measures 3/4" wide at the front and 1/4" at the back. The inside opening (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/8" wide and 1 7/8" tall. The key and chain hang approximately 1 1/2" below the bottom of the hands.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling silver setting and all of the garnet stones are intact. The key, chain and clasp are all secure and in good working condition.
