RIKER BROS. Art Nouveau 14kt Etched Floral Bangle Bracelet
Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today.
This gorgeous bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau era (ca1908) is a fantastic example of the Riker Brothers' craftsmanship! This slip-on style bangle is crafted in 14kt yellow gold and features a lovely etched pattern that decorates the entire surface. The design comes alive with swirls of scrolled detail and feminine floral motifs. Stamped inside of the bangle is "14K," the Riker Brothers' signature hallmark, and an inscription etched in a beautiful script: "Florence L. Macdonald," "Xmas 1908." A gorgeous everyday piece, it would look wonderful worn alone or stacked with other complimentary bracelets!
Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/8" tall, and would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures a little less than 1/2" wide and is about 1/8" thick. The overall pennyweight of the piece is 11.8dwt (18.3 grams).
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or etched design.
