Art Deco Chinese Sterling Carved Jade + Coral Earrings
A beautiful pair of jade and coral earrings from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! These lovely earrings are crafted in sterling silver, and have an artistic motif that reflects their Chinese origin. Each earring dangles an oval jade link at the base, which hangs from a decorative surmount. The natural jade stones feature intricately hand-carved floral motifs with delicate cutouts, and exhibit beautiful shades of dark and light green, with soft marbling throughout. At the base of each bezel-set stone is a twisted wirework "rope" border, which is attached at the top to a decorative sterling link. Completing the design is a decorative floral topper with a coral cabochon at the center. The pop of orange from the coral pairs beautifully next to the darkened silver! Simple earring posts rest at the back, stamped "MADE IN CHINA" next to a Chinese symbol. When worn, the earrings frame the face beautifully and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2 1/8" long. The jade link measures approximately 3/4" wide, 1" long, and 1/8" thick. The round topper measures a little less than 1/2" in diameter and is 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. The jade and and coral stones are intact and securely set. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is normal given the age of the piece and adds to its beauty and character.
