A. MERY Art Nouveau French Gilded Silver Swimming Sports Medal Pendant
A lovely pendant from the late Art Nouveau (ca1915) era! This wonderful French pendant is crafted in gilded silver and a piece from what is referred to as the medal jewels movement in France. With a fairly substantial size, the pendant has a wonderfully detailed image of an elegant nude woman on one side and two swimmers on the other side. Both depictions are very different in theme but equally stunning in detail, with graceful facial and body features, flowing water and defined musculature on the swimmers. The medal pendant hangs from its original bail and there are several French hallmarks including the makers mark "A. MERY" etched onto both sides, "ARGENT" stamped along the edge and two French touch marks, one next to "ARGENT" and another at the top ring. The unusual and interesting pendant would look fabulous hanging from your favorite chain and would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/4" long, is 1" wide, and 1/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded silver surface or images and the bail is secure.
