GEORG JENSEN Vintage Sterling Silver Textured Cufflinks
Renowned Danish silversmith Georg Jensen was born in 1866. His training in metalsmithing and his education in the Fine Arts enabled him to develop a successful career based in beautiful jewelry and silver design. His signature Art Nouveau style grew increasingly popular and Jensen became a world renowned artist. Although Jensen died in 1935, his pieces are still being created today using the same craftsmanship as when he was alive.
These vintage cufflinks (ca1945) are a wonderful example of Georg Jensen's signature style! Crafted in sterling silver, the cufflinks have a double-sided design comprised of circular and oval links. The surface is patterned with a unique raised texture, adding further depth to their appearance. A strand of chain connects the links together in the middle. Stamped on the back of the circular links is "STERLING DENMARK," the number "5" and the authentic "GEORG JENSEN" signature hallmark used between 1945 to the present. A stylish pair of cufflinks by a celebrated maker, they would be right at home in any vintage collection!
Measurements: The circular links have a 5/8" diameter, and measure 1/8" thick. The oval links measure 3/4" long, 1/4" wide, and 1/16" thick. The connecting strand of chain measures 5/8" long.
Condition: The cufflinks are in excellent vintage condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. There is a darkened natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is a normal characteristic of vintage jewelry. However, the cufflinks can be polished if a brighter silver appearance is desired.
