Victorian Gold-Filled Enameled Purse Locket/Charm
An unusual locket charm from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful gold-filled piece portrays a miniature purse, crafted in charming 3-dimensional detail. The front of the purse is decorated with a blue and black enameled motif, complete with a "quilted" pattern and floral details. On the reverse side is the same design without the enamel, highlighting the beautiful texture engraved within the setting. The hinged design opens from the top, revealing two small spaces inside to store photographs behind removable glass frames. The piece hangs from a swinging handle at the top, which acts as the bail. A very fun and unique keepsake piece, it would look lovely worn on a chain or added to a special charm bracelet!
Measurements: The piece hangs approximately 1" in total length, including the handle. The body of the purse measures 5/8" tall, 5/8" wide, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold-filled setting. The enameled motif has some light fading near the bottom left corner, but remains in good antique condition otherwise. The hinged design opens easily and closes securely. Both glass frames inside are intact.
