Victorian Gold-Filled "Industrial Style" Watch Chain + Watch Key Toggle 12"
A fantastic industrial style watch chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning piece is crafted in rose gold-fill and is comprised of long, double-sided bar links which alternate with sections of chain. The oval-shaped links display a fabulous curled ribbon wirework design that is enclosed within the center. Resting in between are small sections of interlocking chain, which are embellished with delicate grooves, adding wonderful texture to the design. A swivel watch clasp fastens the piece together where a watch key toggle dangles from a short extension chain. The watch key displays lovely milgrain work at the center, with hexagonal shaped barrels on each end, creating a fabulous visual effect. The design and length of the piece lends it to be a pocket watch chain, however with the help of an additional chain, it could become a fabulous necklace. Whether worn alone, or paired with a favorite pendant or locket, the design offers wonderful versatility and makes a unique statement piece!
Measurements: The chain measures approximately 12" long. Each elongated link measures about 7/8" long, 1/4" wide, and 1/8" thick. The sections of connector links measure a little less than 1/2" long and 1/4" wide. The toggle bar and extension chain hang about 1" below the watch chain and measures 2" in length.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold-filled setting. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
