Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.

A fabulous Bohemian garnet bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous piece is made of gilded silver, and is set with 294 faceted garnets, which cover the entire surface. Each side of the bracelet displays five rows of stones, which alternate in size and cut. The larger stones are flat topped and faceted on the back, while the smaller stones are delicate rose cuts. All of the stones are prong set, displaying a deep, luscious red color. The bracelet is hinged and clasps on the side, where a safety chain provides added security. A perfect everyday accessory, this gorgeous bangle would look equally lovely worn alone or paired with other complimentary bracelets!

Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and 2" tall. It would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures 3/4" wide.

Condition: The bracelet is in very good antique condition. There is some normal surface wear to the silver gilt setting and garnet stones, which is minor and commensurate with age. None of the wear detracts from the beauty of the antique design. All of the stones are intact; some appear to have been previously reset or replaced. The clasp and safety chain are both secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, and the original gilt finish has faded slightly over time.
