Late Victorian Silver Plated Bulldog Head Pin

A wonderful dog pin from the Late Victorian (ca1900) era! The piece, which is crafted in plated sterling, is very detailed and portrays the 3-dimensional face of an endearing pup. The dog, which appears to be a type of Bulldog, has a wonderfully expressive face with a distinctive pushed-in snout, soulful eyes and deep folded wrinkles throughout. Additionally, there is a light fur texture covering some parts of the face. The piece is completely hollow, allowing it to be very lightweight to wear, and there is a watch hook at the bottom, perfect for pairing with a complimentary pendant or pocket watch if desired. On the back of the piece is a large bar pin and secure c-catch clasp, allowing it to be easily fastened to a favorite garment. The back is also stamped with a "STERLING TOP" purity mark. Measurements: The pin measures approximately 7/8" tall, 7/8" at the widest point, and 1/4" in depth.

Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling plated setting or raised detail. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which adds depth to the design.
