Carl Schon was a Baltimore based jeweler in the 1920s who became famous for his designs in sterling silver. His most famous designs were detailed depictions of seahorses, however, he also incorporated other works into his repertoire. His company made use of stones and jewelry imported from Europe and created custom designs, often by plating actual seahorses in silver or gold, and then incorporating the customer's name into the piece. Carl Schon, Inc. continued the artist's legacy after his death and manufactured jewelry until the 1970's. Today, his rare pieces are highly collectable and continue to appeal to jewelry lovers for their exceptional detail and wonderful artistry.
