RIKER BROTHERS Art Nouveau 14kt Etched Hinged Bangle Bracelet 15.8dwt
Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800's until the 1950's. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today.
This gorgeous bracelet from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) era is a fantastic example of the Riker Brothers' talent. Known for their attention to detail, this 14kt yellow gold bangle is decorated in a lovely scrolling etched design covering the entire outer surface. The bracelet is hinged and fastens with a push clasp on the side, and the hollow nature of the piece makes it wonderfully lightweight for comfortable wear. Stamped inside of the bangle is a "14K" gold purity mark beside the signature Riker Brothers hallmark of an "R" resting atop a curved sword. A spectacular piece, it would look stunning worn alone or stacked with other complimentary bracelets. This fabulous bangle would make a gorgeous addition to any Riker Brothers' collection!
Measurements: The opening of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/4" wide and about 1 7/8" tall, and would fit on an average to medium sized wrist. The surface measures approximately 1/2" wide and has a depth of a little less than 1/4". The overall pennyweight of the piece is 15.8dwt (24.4 grams).
