Victorian Petite Gilded Sterling Garnet Drop Earrings
A beautiful pair of petite garnet earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These lovely earrings are crafted in gilded sterling silver, and have a simple yet elegant design. Each earring holds a gorgeous oval-shaped garnet cabochon that is prong set at the center of a lovely twisted rope border. The border provides a wonderful textured appearance next to the open-back stone, which exhibits a lovely purplish red hue when caught in the light. The cabochon rests below an European-style leverback earring wire that fastens in the front, allowing them to have soft movement when worn. A simply stunning pair of earrings, they would look beautiful worn day or night!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 5/8" long (including the wire at the top), and measures about 3/8" wide and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded setting or clasped earring wires. The garnet stones are securely set, and free of chips or scratches.
