Victorian 18kt/Sterling Diamond + Carved Teardrop Emerald Earrings
A beautiful pair of emerald and diamond earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 18kt rose gold topped with sterling silver, each earring features an incredible carved emerald teardrop at the base, which hangs freely from a sparkling diamond lined link. The vibrant emeralds weigh approximately 2.00ct (4.00ctw combined), and exhibit a natural vivid green color with a unique ridged surface, adding wonderful texture to the design. The link features 4 old Mine Cut diamonds resting in a box setting, while 9 bezel set Rose Cut diamonds flank either side and the base, creating a unique eye-catching appeal. The link hangs from a complimentary topper that adorns a wonderful belcher set old Rose Cut diamond at the front. In total, all of the diamonds weigh approximately 7.00ctw between both earrings, each one catching the light brilliantly with every turn. The topper is attached to a hinged wire that fastens at the front, and stamped on the side is a French touchmark of a ram's head, indicating its gold purity. These incredible earrings dangle with lovely movement, framing the face beautifully, and would look gorgeous worn on special occasions!
Measurements: Each earrings hangs approximately 2" long, including the wire at the top. The emerald teardrops measure slightly more than 1/4" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling-topped gold setting. All of the diamonds are intact and securely set. The emerald teardrops are hand-carved, giving them slight variation in size and shape, but both are secure and free of significant chips or scratches. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver-topped setting, which is normal for Victorian era jewelry.
