Victorian 10kt Textured Cigar Cutter Fob Pendant

SKU: 42564

$395
A bold cigar cutter fob/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 10kt yellow gold, the piece is a functioning cigar cutter which was most likely worn as a fob, hanging from a gentleman's watch chain. Carrying the traditional shape of a cigar cutter, the piece has an elongated teardrop shape and 3-dimensional appeal. A ridged design covers both sides of the piece, providing beautiful texture, while a single old Mine Cut diamond is set within the gold surface, near the base. On one side of the cutter is a hinged mechanism which opens at a gold button near the base. When pulled, it reveals the hidden blade while simultaneously opening a space at the bottom, which would have been used to clip the tip of a cigar.  Resting at the top is a simple round bail, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. A very unique Victorian piece, it would make a special addition to any antique collection!

Measurements: The cigar cutter hangs 1 5/8" long (including the bail at the top), measures slightly more than 1/2" wide, and is 3/8" thick at the flared base.

Condition: The cigar cutter fob is in overall good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or ridged texture on the front of the piece (the side with the diamond) and the diamond is intact and securely set. There are a few surface dings on the opposite side of the piece but due to their location, they are not visible when the piece is worn facing forward. The cigar cutter mechanism is fully functional and in good working condition.
