Victorian 15kt Enamel + Diamond Tiger Head Pendant

SKU: 42057

$1,495

A magnificent enameled pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in vibrant 15kt gold, the piece represents the face of a fierce, snarling tiger. The tiger comes to life in 3-dimensional repousse detail, creating a realistic look! Luscious hand-painted enamel accents cover the surface, including rich black stripes and whiskers, and coppery red accents that are painted across the mouth and nose. Clenched within the tiger's open mouth is a sparkling accent diamond, which is prong set between pointed gold fangs. Two delicate garnet cabochons represent each of the tiger's deep red eyes. On the reverse side of the piece is a hidden gold bail, where a complimentary chain can be threaded through. This outstanding pendant is truly a work of art, and would make quite an unusual addition to any antique jewelry collection!

Measurements: The pendant measures 3/4" tall and wide, and is just over 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or 3-dimensional repousse detail. The enamel shows signs of minor surface wear due to age, which is normal for an antique piece. However, the minimal wear does not detract from the striking beauty of the design. The diamond and both garnet eyes are intact and securely set. The bail on the back is securely attached and in good condition.
