SKU: ABNYC

$3,995

Guilloché is an engraving technique in which a very precise, intricate pattern is mechanically etched into an underlying material with very fine detail. Most commonly, the Guilloché surface was then enameled and the repetitive, intricate design would show through the colorful enamel to the surface.

A spectacular Guilloché necklace from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This beautiful 14kt gold necklace features a decorative locket that hangs from a complimentary enameled chain. The locket displays a lovely blue enamel surface surrounded by a solid cream colored border. Beneath the translucent enamel is an exquisite Guilloché pattern, which fans out from the center in rays, with a pattern roses and flourishes along the perimeter. Both sides of the locket feature the wonderful and delicate engraved motif. At the center of the design is an appliqué filigree design in platinum, accented with a sparkling single cut diamond. When opened, the locket reveals a removable round frame inside to store a special photograph behind glass. An engine-turned spiral design gives further depth to the interior of the piece, which is marked "14K" inside. The locket hangs from its original matching enameled chain with a lorgnette style extension. The spring ring attachment at the center allows the locket to be easily removed from the chain if desired, and a second spring ring clasp at the back fastens the chain together. A lovely and feminine piece, this wonderful necklace would make a special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The chain measures 27" long, and the lorgnette extension hangs 2 1/2" long at the center. The locket hangs 1 1/2" long (including the bail), has a 1 1/8" diameter, and measures 1/4" thick. Each enameled bar link measures 1/2" long and 1/16" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket and chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the Guilloché enamel design, which is free of any significant chips or surface scratches. The platinum filigree and diamond design is intact and securely set. The chain remains in good condition, with both spring ring clasps in proper working order. The locket opens easily and fastens shut securely.
