Victorian 18kt Moonstone Etched Left/Right Hoop Earrings
An absolutely fantastic pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These stunning earrings are crafted in 18kt yellow gold and have an unusual design. Each earring is the shape of a wide and elongated half hoop, creating a left and right side when worn. The front of the earrings are curved and have a lovely feminine etched design. Four stunning moonstone cabochons line the top half of the hoop, each one graduating slightly in size. The oval-shaped stones are bezel set in an open back setting, allowing the light to pass through, showcasing their pearlescent color and strong blue flash. A gold support wire connects each side of the crescent hoop together, creating additional support to hold the earring shape. Please note: this support bar has purposely been removed from some of the images of the earrings to allow the viewer to see how they look when worn. Finishing the design is a gold European wire at the top that hooks in the front, allowing them to dangle with lovely movement, framing the face beautifully. The left/right hoop style earring is very unique and blends seamlessly into modern day fashion. They make a gorgeous statement when worn and would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 3/4" long, measures about 1 1/8" wide and 1/2" thick. The overall pennyweight of both earrings is 5.5dwt (8.8 grams).
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold setting and all of the moonstones are intact. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
