Edwardian 14kt Yellow Gold Thimble in Original Box

SKU: 42735

$395

A wonderful and unique thimble in its original box from the Edwardian (ca1906) era! This lovely piece is crafted in solid 14kt yellow gold and features a classic yet stylish design. The body and tip of the thimble is detailed with hundreds of indented dots to catch the point of a needle when sewing, keeping the fingertip protected while adding a lovely textured appeal. The smoothly polished base features an engraved set of initials, "M.A.M." and the date "JAN 9 1906" both in a bold script for the era. The graduated edge features lovely ribbed details, and stamped inside of the piece, underneath the tip is a "14K" gold purity mark besides a maker's mark. The piece is fully functional as a thimble and is beautifully designed, and comes in its original round burgundy-colored velvet box. Perfect for any sewing enthusiast, this lovely thimble would make a special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The thimble is of standard size and measures slightly more than 3/4" tall, is approximately 5/8" in diameter at the opening, and slightly less than 1/2" wide at the tip.

Condition: The overall condition of the thimble is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The original box  shows some signs of surface wear around the perimeter of the tip and at the base, but is otherwise in excellent condition, especially considering its age.
