Victorian 10kt French Paste Dangle Earrings

SKU: 41988

$695
French paste is a vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700s, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

A gorgeous and unique pair of French paste earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in 10kt rosy yellow gold, each earring features a multi-prong set stone hanging from a simple earring wire. The prongs are relatively high, creating a fabulous mid-century modern appearance that is visible from the sides. The facets in each stone catch the light beautifully with every turn and closely resemble real diamonds. Finishing the design is a simple earring wire attached at the top, allowing each piece to dangle with lovely movement. A beautiful and modern design, these earrings look absolutely gorgeous and could be worn everyday!

Measurement: Each earring hangs 7/8" long (including the wire at the top). The prong-set stones measure approximately 1/4" in diameter and are 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The French paste stones are intact and securely set. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
