Art Deco Chinese Silver Plated Vinaigrette Basket Earrings

SKU: 42835

$295
A unique pair of vinaigrette earrings from the late Art Deco (ca1930s) era! These lovely silver-plated earrings display a 3-dimensional basket shaped design that beautifully reflects their Chinese origin. Delicate mesh wirework forms each barrel shape and applied floral motifs rest in a row, carrying around the center and around the top. A delicate smoothly polished bead tops each floral motif, creating a scalloped design and an eye-catching appeal. Each earring dangles beautifully from a complimentary floral motif surmount, attached to simple earring wires at the top. The vinaigrettes unscrew at the center of the basket, which would have been used for adding a scent-soaked cloth inside. A fantastic and unique pair of earrings that frame the face beautifully, they make a lovely statement when worn!

Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 3/4" long, including the wire at the top. Each basket-shaped vinaigrette measures about 1 1/8" long, and is 3/4" wide and thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is good. There is no serious damage to the silver plated setting, however, due to their mesh composition and age, there are some spots which are slightly misshapen. Additionally, there is some minor wear to one of the toppers, which is hardly noticeable when worn. The silver plate is slightly faded in some areas, but it does not detract from the overall cohesiveness of the design. The vinaigrettes twist open easily and screw shut securely. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
