This wonderful memorial necklace dates back to the Victorian (ca1880) era! It is crafted of beautiful carved onyx, and linked with rich 10K yellow gold. The square pendant holds a beautiful Fluer de Lis in gold and has a leaf like hook bail. The onyx bead chain is comprised of interchanging shapes of spheres and ovals. The back of the locket holds a cover that pulls out to insert mementos and currently holds some blonde hair. The chain is secured by a barrel clasp. Onyx was a favorite back in the day and commonly used for mourning jewelry. This locket could also be called a "Lovers Locket" to hold a loved one's hair close to the heart, as this locket does. This is a fantastic onyx piece and would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket measures 1-1/2'' x 1-1/8''. The chain will adorn your neck at 15-1/2'' in choker style to display the memorial locket at the nape of the neck. The links are just over 1/4''. It suspends the locket from it's original 10K bail.
