Victorian French Paste Clip Earrings
French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.
These dramatic French paste clip earrings are the shape of wings and reach up the entire length of your ear. The earrings, which are from the Victorian era (ca1880) are encrusted in paste stones and are set in silver. On the back of the earrings are the original earring clips.
