Victorian 14kt & Large Goldstone Ring
Gold in quartz was formed while the earth was still in its molten state. During the cooling and solidification process, veins of gold became trapped with the crystals of quartz in the mine. This created a very dramatic contrast between the white quartz and the yellow of the gold. Jewelry made from gold quartz became quite the fashion statement in the 1880's.
A fabulous gold quartz ring from the Victorian era (ca 1880)! This beautiful ring is comprised of a single large rounded rectangular gold quartz in a hand wrought 14kt setting. A simple beaded design is engraved around the setting below the prongs and the gold line in the stone compliments the setting beautifully. A unisex ring, this would appeal to either a man or woman and could easily be resized if needed.
Measurements: The gold quartz stone measures approximately 1" long and 1/2 " wide. The ring is a size 8, however it could easily be resized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. The stone is in fine condition with a large, wide gold vein and there is no apparent damage to the gold setting.
