An absolutely gorgeous Victorian (ca1880) locket and book chain. The 15kt yellow gold book chain is handmade and has a simple yet beautiful design which is comprised of alternating round and oblong shaped links. The chain and the locket both have a high karat bloom finish which gives them a rich, bold color. At the center of the chain is a large sized spring ring that opens and makes it easy to change the piece that hangs from it. The locket, which is also made of 15kt yellow gold, has a raised 6-point starbust that sits on the face. The starbust is comprised of 26 Mine Cut diamonds and 1 natural pearl in the center. The most vertical points of the star, which are slightly longer than the other four, have 5 diamonds in each point. The remaining four points of the star have 4 diamonds in each. On the inside of the locket is a black and white photograph of an individual man. On the back of one of the oblong shaped links is the marking "15CT". It's simply a beautiful Victorian piece!

Measurements: The gold book chain measures approximately 18 3/4" long and 1/4" thick. The round links of the chain have a diameter of 5/8" and the oblong shaped links are approximately 5/8" long and 3/8" wide. The inside of the spring ring has a diameter of 5/8". The locket measures approximately 1 3/4" long from the bottom of the locket to the top of the jump ring that is soldered to the top of the locket, 1 1/4" wide and 1/2" at the thickest point. The starbust on the face of the locket measures approximately 1 1/2" long and 1" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is no serious damage to the book chain and the attached spring ring is in good working condition. There is a small dent on one of the oblong shaped links in the chain which is almost unnoticeable. The locket is in excellent condition. There is no apparent damage to the gold and all of the stones are intact. There is some normal wear to the surface of the gold which is normal or any Victorian piece.
